Camps

Students ages 8 and up are welcome to spend either a half-day, 9:00 am – 12:30 pm or full-day, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm with MAA. The half-day camp consists of two technique classes per day, Mulit-Age Begining Modern and Begining/Intermediat Ballet. Full-day camp starts with these two classes and then continues with lunch and afternoon activites related to the week’s theme.

Weeks of June 1 & June 7 – Recital Redux – Students attending camp these weeks will learn and then preform the repertoire created for the 2021 Movement Arts Atlanta Student Recital. These works include ballet variations and a modern dance. These dances will then be performed at to be determined outdoor neighborhood locations or locations such as senior centers.

Week of June 14 – Ballet Russe – This important company formed in 1909 brought dance to the world with is extensive touring. This is particularly true for America. During the week students with watch the documentary Ballet Russes by Dayna Goldfine and DanGeller, learn simplified versions of variations from the ballets performed by the Ballet Russes and engage in hands on activities to understand the historical significance of the this company as it related to dance in America.

Week of June 21 – Story Book Dances – During this week, the afternoons focus will be on two wonderful story ballets for young audiences, Peter and the Wolf and The Tales of Beatrix Potter. After watching productions of these ballets by the Royal Ballet, the students will learn simplified versions of solos and variation in the ballets.

  • Weeks of June 7 – 110, June 14 – 17 and June 21 – 24 (4 days each week)
    • Full Day, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, $280
    • Half Day, 9:00 am – 12:30 pm, $140

Indoor – Home Studio, 87 Druid Circle NE, 30307

  • 11:15 am – 12:30 pm – Beginning/Intermediate Ballet (ages 8+)
  • 12:30 pm – 1:15 pm – Lunch
  • 1:15 pm – 3:00 pm – Dance Film, Dance History Discussion
  • 3:00 pm – 3:45 pm – Choreography and/or Craft
    • Or 1:15 pm – 3:45 pm – Out and About
  • 3:45 pm – 4:00 pm – Clean Up/Departure for Camp
